A Postpartum Doula is a trained professional who provides support to families from birth up to 1 year postpartum. A Postpartum Doula can support with housework, education and connection to resources, emotional support, and infant care.
I am currently completing my Postpartum Doula certification through Doula School Canada.
I have completed courses in lactation, infection prevention and control, safe food handling and am First Aid/CPR-C certified.
In addition to my Doula training, I also have a BA from Brock University in Child and Youth Studies with a minor in Psychology.
On top of that, I am a mother of three, so…I’ve been where you are!
No. I am happy to care for baby while parents get some rest or have a minute to themselves. I’m also happy to engage older kiddos to give parents some time with the baby.
However, I do not provide care for the children while parents leave the home.
While I can do light household tasks, my focus is primarily on baby-related tasks (baby laundry, washing/sanitizing bottles or pump parts, restocking diaper caddies, general tidying, etc.). I do not do heavy household tasks such as deep cleaning or yard work.
Absolutely! Even with wonderful family support, a Postpartum Doula brings a unique level of expertise and care. I provide evidence-based guidance, hands-on newborn care, and emotional support tailored specifially for you - without the personal dynamics that can sometimes come with family.
My presence allows your loved ones to enjoy their time with you and the baby, while ensuring you still get the rest and care you deserve.
As a Doula, I am not a medical professional, nor am I qualified to provide mental health care. A Doula is not a substitute for a medical doctor, midwife, or mental health professional. I cannot diagnose or treat physical or mental health concerns with parents or baby. While I have completed a lactation course, I am not a Lactation Consultant.
However, I am able to help connect families to relevant services should they need care and support that extends beyond my scope of practice.
